This is therapy without compromise.

At North Salem Psychotherapy, we believe the people who find their way to us deserve more than a rushed session squeezed into an overbooked schedule. We offer thoughtful, evidence-based care grounded in years of clinical experience across inpatient and outpatient settings.

We keep our caseloads small by design. That means your therapist knows your history, holds your story between sessions, and is genuinely invested in your progress. You won't find a generalist here — you'll find a clinician who has spent her career going deep, not wide.

About the practice

Two specialists. One practice. A shared commitment to doing this well.

North Salem Psychotherapy is a two-therapist practice offering telehealth across New York State. We specialize in the mental health challenges that require real clinical depth — anxiety, depression, life transitions, fertility struggles, and the experiences that don't fit neatly into a category.

Both of our therapists bring extensive experience in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings. That background means we've seen the full spectrum of mental health struggle, and we know how to hold complexity.

North Salem Psychotherapy office — warm, welcoming therapy space in Croton Falls NY

Who we work with

We work with adults, teens, and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and major life stressors. We have particular depth in perinatal mental health, fertility struggles, and the experiences specific to women — and we welcome anyone who is ready to do serious, thoughtful work.

Our clinical approach

Both therapists are grounded in evidence-based practice, drawing on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and psychodynamic frameworks — adapted to who you are, not applied as a formula.

Suzanne holds advanced specialty training in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International (PSI) and is trained in Collaborative Problem Solving. Samantha brings a psychodynamic lens to life transitions and relationship patterns, integrated with the practical skills of DBT and CBT.

Clinical oversight

Suzanne is the founder and clinical supervisor of North Salem Psychotherapy. Samantha's work is reviewed and supported at the highest standard — providing an additional layer of clinical quality for every client in our practice.

Our values

Specialization over generalism

We go deep, not wide. Every clinical decision is informed by years of focused experience with women, girls, and the specific challenges they face.

Honest, direct care

We don't string therapy out indefinitely. We want you to build real skills, real insight, and real relief.

Intentionally small

Keeping our caseloads small means your therapist is fully present. You won't be one of sixty. You'll be known.

This grief is real. It deserves a real space.

Grief-informed, medically literate therapy for women navigating infertility, IVF, miscarriage, and pregnancy after loss. telehealth across New York State across New York State.

The grief no one names

Infertility and pregnancy loss carry a particular kind of grief — one that often goes unnamed, unsupported, and invisible.

People tell you to stay positive. To try again. To be grateful for what you have. What they rarely offer is a real space to grieve what hasn't happened yet, or what you've lost along the way. You shouldn't have to carry the grief itself AND the exhaustion of managing everyone else's discomfort with it.

What we work through

Infertility and IVF — the grief of failed cycles, the anxiety of waiting, the identity shifts that come with this experience. Miscarriage — whether you were 6 weeks or 20, the loss is real and deserves to be treated that way. Pregnancy after loss — joy and terror existing at the same time, milestone by milestone. Recurrent loss — multiple losses that compound in ways that are hard to describe.

What makes this different

I am medically literate. I understand IVF protocols, the language of fertility treatment, the emotional arc of a cycle. You don't have to explain the basics — we can get straight to what you're actually feeling. I am grief-informed. I don't rush you toward hope or silver linings. I am not going to tell you everything happens for a reason.

You don't have to find the right words to reach out.

Anxiety isn't just worry. It's the exhaustion of a mind that never fully rests.

Evidence-based therapy for anxiety. DBT and CBT approaches that give you real, lasting skills — not just strategies for getting through the day. Serving North Salem, Westchester County, and all of New York State via telehealth.

What anxiety looks like in women

High-functioning anxiety is common in accomplished women. From the outside it looks like drive. On the inside it feels like barely keeping up.

Anxiety in women is frequently misread — including by the women experiencing it. It often looks like perfectionism that never feels like enough, difficulty delegating, people pleasing and difficulty saying no, lying awake running through tomorrow's to-do list, snapping at the people you love, or a sense of dread that doesn't have a clear source.

What actually helps

We use evidence-based approaches — primarily DBT and CBT — that give you real, lasting skills rather than just a space to talk about your anxiety. That means learning to recognize the thought patterns that fuel it, building practical tools for when it spikes, and gradually expanding your capacity to tolerate uncertainty. The goal isn't to eliminate anxiety — some anxiety is useful. The goal is to stop letting it run the show.

Functioning isn't the same as living. You deserve more than just getting by.

Evidence-based therapy for depression. Treatment that goes beyond talking about how you feel — to actually changing it. Telehealth across New York State.

What depression looks like in women

Depression often looks like getting out of bed every single day, doing everything required of you, and feeling nothing.

It's the persistent flatness that nobody notices because you're still showing up. Going through the motions while feeling profoundly disconnected from your own life. Low mood that persists for weeks, exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix, loss of interest in things that used to matter, difficulty concentrating, feeling disconnected from your relationships, or a quiet sense that things will never really get better.

What treatment looks like

We use evidence-based approaches — primarily DBT and CBT — adapted to your specific history and life. Therapy for depression isn't just talking about how you feel. It's understanding the patterns that maintain it, building behavioral momentum when motivation is gone, and developing a different relationship with the thoughts that keep you stuck. Treatment for depression is not one-size-fits-all, and we don't treat it that way.

She deserves a space that is genuinely, completely hers.

Individual therapy for teens ages 13–17 via telehealth across New York State. A private, judgment-free space to work through anxiety, depression, identity, and the pressure of growing up.

What brings teen girls to therapy

Being a teen girl right now is harder than it has ever been. The pressure is constant. And the internal experience is often invisible to the adults around her.

Anxiety — social pressure, academic perfectionism, worry that won't quiet. Depression — low mood, withdrawal, loss of interest. Identity — figuring out who she is and where she belongs. Social dynamics — friendship struggles, exclusion, social media and its aftermath. Family stress, self-esteem, body image, life transitions. Whatever brings her in, she gets a space that is genuinely hers.

A note for parents

Sessions are individual and confidential within the bounds of safety. We do not share session content with parents without her knowledge and agreement except in safety situations. This is what makes the work possible — she needs to know the space is actually hers. We're happy to talk with you before her first session about what to expect and how you can support the process from the outside.

The version of you that's been waiting — they're still in there.

Individual therapy for life transitions, relationship patterns, and identity shifts. Telehealth across New York State.

Life transitions

You don't have to be in crisis to deserve support. Sometimes you just need someone to help you figure out what you actually want on the other side of everything that's changed.

Divorce and relationship endings, career transitions, becoming a parent, loss and grief, moving and relocation, midlife transitions, empty nest. Big life changes — even the ones we choose — can shake something loose. Samantha specializes in helping women move through these moments with intention rather than just survival mode.

Relationships

The patterns we develop in relationships are often the last things we look at clearly — because we're inside them. Samantha works with people who want to understand why the same dynamics keep showing up, how to set boundaries that actually hold, what they actually need from the people in their lives, and the relationship they have with themselves. This is individual therapy — not couples therapy. But understanding yourself in relationship is often the most powerful thing you can do.

I became a therapist because I believe that some of the hardest human experiences — losing a pregnancy, spiraling in the middle of the night, feeling swallowed whole by new motherhood — deserve a clinician who has done the specific work to understand them. Not a generalist. Someone who has been in the trenches of this work, across hospital units and outpatient offices, and who takes it seriously.

I specialize in perinatal mental health with advanced PSI training, DBT, and Collaborative Problem Solving. My style is warm and direct — I want you to build real skills, real insight, and real relief.

There's a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from living a life that looks fine on the outside while something quietly unravels on the inside. A relationship that stopped working. A transition that cracked you open. A version of yourself you've lost track of. That's the work I do — helping women and teen girls find their footing when the ground has shifted.

I draw on DBT, CBT, and psychodynamic frameworks, woven together based on what you actually need. I have a particular interest in women who are accomplished, capable, and thoroughly burned out on pretending otherwise.

I became a therapist because I believe that some of the hardest human experiences — losing a pregnancy, spiraling in the middle of the night, feeling swallowed whole by new motherhood — deserve a clinician who has done the specific work to understand them. Not a generalist. Not someone who will hand you a worksheet and a smile. Someone who has been in the trenches of this work, across hospital units and outpatient offices, and who takes it seriously.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings in New York. I specialize in fertility struggles, pregnancy loss, and the emotional weight of the journey to parenthood — and I have completed advanced clinical training through Postpartum Support International (PSI). I am also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Collaborative Problem Solving, approaches I find particularly effective for women who are used to being the ones holding everything together.

I work with women navigating depression and anxiety, teen girls, and anyone standing at one of life's harder intersections. My style is warm and direct. I don't believe in stringing therapy out indefinitely — I want you to build real skills, real insight, and real relief. I will tell you what I think. I will also listen.

I am the founder and clinical supervisor of North Salem Psychotherapy, responsible for the quality and consistency of care in our practice.

My clinical background spans inpatient and outpatient settings in New York, where I worked with women and adolescents navigating some of the most acute moments of their mental health lives. Do you take insurance?
We are a private-pay practice. We do not bill insurance directly. Upon request, we provide superbills — itemized receipts with the diagnostic and billing codes your insurance needs to process an out-of-network reimbursement claim. Many PPO plans cover a significant portion of out-of-network therapy. We're happy to walk you through the process.
Why would I choose private pay if I have insurance?
Insurance billing requires a psychiatric diagnosis in your permanent medical record. Private pay means your care stays entirely between you and your therapist — no diagnosis required, no records shared, no third-party involvement.
How do I know which therapist is right for me?
If your concerns center on perinatal mental health, fertility, or postpartum, Suzanne is the right fit. If you're navigating life transitions, relationship patterns, or looking for a therapist for a teen girl, Samantha is a strong match. Both therapists work with anxiety, depression, and teen girls. Not sure? Tell us — that's what the consultation is for.
What does the consultation look like?
A brief 15-minute phone or video call — free, no commitment — where we get a sense of what brings you in, answer your questions, and confirm we're the right fit.
